Save the date! 2019 Northeast Aquatic Biologist Conference

Friday, September 21, 2018 - 5:30pm
Summary:

Save the date! 2019 Northeast Aquatic Biologist Conference

When: February 27 – March 1, 2019

Where:  Saratoga Springs, NY

During the spring of 2018, the New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission (NEIWPCC) and a subcommittee of the New England Association of Environmental Biologists (NEAEB) met to discuss the formation of a new NEIWPCC workgroup for Northeast Aquatic Biologists (NAB). NEIWPCC agreed to sponsor this workgroup to provide a forum for state and federal aquatic biologists to meet and share information and continue to benefit from presentations, open discussion, and regional collaboration. Components of this agreement include regular NEIWPCC workgroup meetings of the Northeast Aquatic Biologist state and federal members and the hosting of an annual, regional, Northeast Aquatic Biologist Conference. This conference is intended to replace the conference that was hosted by NEAEB each spring.

This conference, a partnership with member states, NEIWPCC and EPA, continues the longstanding legacy and tradition of NEAEB with an emphasis on providing relevant content, materials, and a desire to provide a forum for a professional exchange of knowledge among aquatic biologists. Continuing with the long standing tradition of the former NEAEB conference, the NAB Conference is open to all.

The NAB workgroup will meet in person twice per year, and a planning team will help to put on the annual NAB conference, rotating among NEIWPCC's member states. Unique to the NAB workgroup is a workgroup co-chair, which will be a member of the state that is hosting the current year's conference. The 2019 conference will be held in Saratoga Springs, NY, and AJ Smith (NYSDEC) will be acting as co-chair along with Jasper Hobbs (NEIWPCC).
